His Nasty Nerd (The Halloween Honeys) by Derek Masters

Blurb –

When I get into a little “trouble” at my marketing job, never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine getting placed into a classroom full of some of the hottest college girls teaching a creative writing class on female fantasies. Because of my playboy reputation, the university assigns me a teacher’s assistant hoping that my “troubles” don’t follow me into the classroom.

When Sydney Lynn walks into my class for the first time, all I can think about is making her every fantasy come true. Assigned as my TA, this quiet and awkward sorority girl has no idea how sexy and beautiful she really is. I have a few tricks up my sleeve and have every intention of helping her discover the wild side she never knew she had.

This was a fun and sexy read by author Derek Masters. He’s no amateur to writing a sexy story and this story was a great example of that.

Dylan was just what Sydney needed to break out of her shell. And though Dylan came across as a huge player at first, a softer, sweeter side was shown which made them a good fit for each other.

I also enjoyed the twist at the end which made me want more of this story. Overall it was a great read and I recommend it to anyone looking for something quick, fun and sexy.

The Day I Stopped Falling for Jerks (Jerk Duet Book 1) by Max Monroe

Blurb –

I’m Luciana Wright.
Everyone calls me Lucky, but when it comes to love, I’m anything but.

I have a long history of dating the wrong men.

You know the ones I’m talking about.
The beautiful, charming guys who are quite literally too good to be true.
The ones who are impulsive in love and prefer short flings over long-term relationships.

I’m talking about the jerks.

The guys who taste so good, but are so very bad.

After going through the most ridiculous breakup in the history of breakups, I thought I’d learned my lesson. I officially put myself into jerk rehab and committed to changing my ways.

But, let’s be real here, love is never that easy.

Especially when an arrogant, charming, he-devil of a sexy alpha man gets involved.

Aussie accent.
Tanned skin.
Muscular, surfer bod.
Gorgeous brown eyes.
And the kind of sexy smile that brings women to their knees.

Oh, did I mention that he’s also my best friend’s brother?

Yeah. This story, my story, it’s a real doozy you guys.

The day I stopped falling for jerks, I met Oliver Arsen—the biggest jerk of all.

Another amazing 5 STAR read from Max Monroe. It doesn’t surprise me, though.

Max Monroe have a way with words. They have the ability to snatch you up and suck you in to their stories and make you not want to leave. Ever!

This book had everything I love reading about. The characters, the witty banter, the humor…the reasons why this was a great read are endless.

And of course, as the saying goes, things happen when you least expect them to and that was exactly what happened to Lucky.

Straight out of another break up (in a long line of breakups) Lucky needs a break. BUT, Ollie happens. And you’re going to have to read how everything unfolds because I would be doing you a disservice if I spoiled all the awesomeness that is this story.

I highly recommend this story as I loved every second reading it. I can’t wait to see what else Max Monroe has brewing for us.

Nick Balachov is a confirmed bachelor and solitary guy who isn’t looking for a wife, kids and an HEA.  Enter Jodie, a single mom with a two-year-old who recently relocated to Chicago to be closer to her best friend Kendra.  Low and behold Kendra is the girlfriend of Nick’s closest friend Max Hallsey.

While trying to get everything set up for their business Josie and her daughter Zyana are staying with Max and Kendra until she can find an affordable place.  Max has the brilliant idea that Jodie could move into Nick’s guest house.  Needless to say, a little madness ensues

While this is kind of an opposites-attract story, it is so much more than that.  You see so much more in Nick and Jodie that what is on the surface.  Seeing how Zyana worms her way into Nick’s heart is endearing.  However, it’s the responsibility of dating a woman with a child that may prove to be Nick and Jodie’s undoing.

All in all, I loved this book and can’t wait to see these three pop up in a future Aces hockey book.

Solo Circus by T.S. Woolard

Blurb –

From the Southern Tale Spinner, T.S. Woolard, comes 15 Creepy Tales of Horror and Dark Transgressive Fiction unlike anything you’ve ever lived through before. There are stories where clearly someone is stark raving mad—and before you’re through—it may well be you. Open the door and step into Woolard’s World—if you dare.—Dona Fox, award-winning author of “Taking Ink.”

Our Reviews –

Betsy –

Solo Circus is a collection of fifteen short stories that take the reader on a journey between past and present, real and extraordinary, hopeful and horrifying. From “The Savior” all the way through to “Ashley”, each story pulled me in even more than the last. The imagery in “The Savior” made me think, trying to decipher each element. In “Non-Compliant” I was almost imagining the story as one of my favorite television shows. “Before Hell” makes you wonder how two people brought up in the same home can turn out so differently. The final story in the collection, “Ashley”, was by far my favorite of the group. A story that shows the long-lasting effects of abuse made even more disturbing with the addition of creepy dolls. While it is horror it is the psychological aspects of the stories that are more disturbing than any gore contained in the pages. I can definitely see myself rereading and discovering elements I didn’t see the first time around.

The Grindhouse: Diablo Snuff 2 by Carver Pike

Blurb –

Tobias, who writes under the pen name T.K. Tantrum, has received a special gift from his assistant. He’s going to an author retreat where he will get the chance to sit and write at the desk of his fallen idol, Melvin Morose, a sick and demented horror writer who hanged himself in the very room in which Tobias will be working. The Grand Georgina, the venue for the retreat, was once a stop on the Underground Railroad, but this hotel is much more than a haunted historical relic. It has become a sick and twisted playground for an evil, demonic company called Diablo Snuff. If you read book 1, you know how horrific Diablo Snuff is. Just wait ’til you read this one.

Our Reviews –

Betsy –

A fantastic story that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end. In The Grindhouse, we follow writer T.K. Tantrum, aka Tobias, to a retreat held in an old estate turned hotel that is ground zero for some of the most horrific crimes. As soon as Tobias steps over the threshold he’s taken into a madhouse of sorts. Throughout the story, the reader is taken on a journey where you wonder what is real and what is his imagination. Could all of those things be real or are you sucked into the folklore of the setting? It’s not until the explosive ending where you see where all the madness lies.

Misti –

A consistently eerie tale all the way to it’s smashing end!!!!

Just like any other book from this author he hits the ground running. Then the creepy and spine tingling action sucks you in right from the start.

Without giving anything away Tobias is an author who’s been given the opportunity to go to an author retreat and write at the very desk his favorite author use to write at. However, from the moment he gets to the grounds that he’s suppose to stay at he starts seeing strange things. He also meets up with Angelica and let’s just say they have lots of “fun” together. The longer he’s at this retreat though the more he knows something is WRONG. He’s not sure what but as he’s snooping he knows that if he doesn’t him and Angelica out of here now they will never leave.

The description of things throughout this book will put chills all over. This author gave me a story that will definitely be remembered for awhile.

Who would think when you go to an author retreat that you’d get a new career???

Revive by Marley Valentine

Blurb –

Sasha was the girl next door, and at fifteen I was sure she was my forever. She was my constant, and never let me down.

Until she did.

She broke me, yet I still found myself longing for her with a debilitating desperation.

Then came Taylah. A crazy and chaotic hurricane of beauty and bad decisions, she breathed life back into me.

For her, my heart began to beat a new rhythm. She was whimsical, and I was level-headed. We were mismatched in the most perfect of ways.

But could she compete with history? Taylah was my reprieve, but could she be my new forever?

Our Reviews –

Meghann –

This book simply blew me away! I was scared and so terribly excited to read Rivive because I knew this book was going to pull at every emotion I had.
From the very beginning I was hooked by the characters. I went on the amazon journey with them in a way only Marley Valentine can take you.

You meet Drix, Sasha and Taylah in the previous story Reclaim. Drix is Jagger’s brother. If I thought Jagger was perfect then my definition was completely wrong. Drix is so easy to fall in love with. His heart, personality, the way he cares he was just everything. The only thing is he has his love and memories of the past, Sasha and the breath of fresh air that could be something great, Taylah. Taylay is absolutely one of my favorite characters written. The sass and hysterical personality she has plus an all around amazing person.

Marley gives you love, emotion, tears, laughter
In the most perfect way. This is by far one of my favorite reads of the year and I highly recommend it.

Book 3 in a STANDALONE series.

Our Reviews –

Betsy –

Amongst the Wildflowers is the third book in the Fleurs d’Amour series. While it is the series it is a completely stand-alone book. This installment follows the reintroduction of estranged best friend Ethan Miller into Layla Jenson’s life. The love that these two characters share started as a childhood infatuation to a teenage crush to adult love. Their chemistry is amazing, but it’s all the other moments that tug at your heartstrings. When jealousy brings a threat to their newly found happiness, will the insecurities of the past cause these lovers to lose their way or will the truth win out in the end? An engaging story with believable characters, steamy love scenes and all the feel, Amongst the Wildflowers, is a must read!

GOOSE (Devil’s Disciples MC Book 4) by Scott Hildreth

Blurb –

ALLY – He looked like he needed a “pick me up”, so I gave him one. In passing, I shoved my panties into the pocket of his leather jacket. It wasn’t typical behavior for me, but he wasn’t a typical biker.

It didn’t matter. I’d never see him again.

When he appeared at my favorite diner a few days later, my jaw hit the floor.

My panties weren’t far behind.

When I found out he was a thief, I grinned at the common bond we shared.

Then, I took his wallet.

I planned to steal his heart next.

First, I’d have to tell him the truth.

The entire truth.

GOOSE – Finding my pantyless Cinderella wasn’t going to be an easy task. I told myself if—and when—I did find her, I’d make her mine for one glorious night.

I quickly learned one night would never be enough.

I knew relationships weren’t for outlaw bikers. Relationships required honesty.

Being honest about club business was contradictory to the MC’s rules.

The only way around it was if she became a member of the MC.

We needed a member, no doubt. Not a smart-mouthed chick with a bold attitude, though. Unless she was a died-in-the-wool thief and a getaway car driver…

Still in Shock

After the last book in this series I couldn’t wait to see where this author was going to go and trust me when I say he didn’t disappoint.  Just when I think that one book can’t be outdone I’m proven once again to be wrong.

Goose has been torn upside down from losing one of his closest friends and he has struggled the most I believe with this.  When he sees Ally the first time there is attraction there that catches him off guard especially with what he finds she left him.  However, once he meets her he realizes that she is definitely unlike anyone he has ever met.

Ally is one of the strongest women I’ve see written in awhile.  She is who she is no apologies and she is smart and talented beyond belief.  She has this honestly about her that Goose is intrigued by however his biggest thing is TRUST.  That’s his hardest thing to do and he struggles with this throughout.

Anyone who has read this series will definitely want to read this and anyone who likes a strong female will enjoy this.

The FedSex Man by Scott Hildreth

Blurb –

Having the perfect package delivered can be a life changer.

JO – Tyson Neese had secrets. Secrets that forced him to distance himself from anyone who offered him love. Bouncing from woman to woman, he feared not what a relationship provided, but what he may lose if he gave himself to another.

He delivered packages for FedEx, wearing his lack of trust like a shield of protective armor.

I was enthralled by him. Anyone would have been.

He was a walking orgasm, and an intriguing one at that.

His real beauty, however, was imbedded much deeper than what could be seen on the surface.

A socially awkward nerd of a book store owner who spent all her idle time secretly reading steamy romance novels, I was the least threatening woman he’d encountered in years.

He must have sensed it, because on the night we met he set his armor aside.

Open-mouthed, and completely out of my comfort zone, I wondered…

Could I live with what lie beneath?

TYSON – Jo Watson was the notch on my sexual bedpost I’d been waiting for, and nothing more.

One night with her was all I wanted. Hit it and quit it was my motto.

When she agreed to go on a date, she didn’t tell me everything. I wish she would have. Had I known of her assets in advance, I wouldn’t have gone.

Not knowing, however, started a sequence of events that changed my life – and hers – forever.

Misti –

Laugh out loud and tug at your heart

Jo owns a bookstore and Tyson is her local fedex delivery guy. Jenny and Shawn are each of their best friends that definitely deliver great humor and actually great advice through this book.  At times though maybe too much advice.

Jo doesn’t have a lot of experience with men and Tyson has no experience with women outside the bedroom.  So this book is laugh out loud funny as these 30 somethings stumble through the dating life when neither of them know much about it.  However, the story that is told between the pages tugs at your heart strings. I laughed, I cried, and I learned things throughout this book.

This author has a way with all his books of throwing in lessons about life that you wish you knew a long time ago.  So kick back, grab a drink, your Kleenex, and get ready for a wonderful book that’ll put a smile on your face.

Lace and Paint (True Colors Book 1) by Ally Sky

Blurb –

Some scars last forever…
All Talia Bloom wanted was to escape to London for a fresh start; a chance to slip away into a big city. A chance to live and breathe.
Moving in with her brother and using his basement as her studio, she finds a way to manage the urges and whims of her never-too-controlled bipolar disorder. She has it all worked out: stick to her routine and everything will be okay.

Ben Storm is not part of that plan. Delicious, secretive, and a sure recipe for addiction, he’s a challenge to her carefully balanced lifestyle and the one thing that could bring it down.
As she slips into an uncontrollable obsessive need for Ben, she risks losing everything. Because when her demons take control, nothing can stand in their way and they have the power to destroy it all.

LACE & PAINT is a story of a fragile soul fighting for her life, her love and her self-worth, and is the first installment it the explosive True Colors series.

Fairies and Demons

What a beautiful and sad story.  Talia is bipolar and has an eating disorder.  She needs to live her life in a specific way to keep herself on track.  When she loves it’s with an all-consuming passion and the more she’s told no the more her demons hear yes.

Talia is definitely one of those people that is so talented but can’t see it because she’s so worried about what others may or may not see.  The only place she feels free to speak is behind a screen hiding from everyone.

When her world crashes around her.  I think for the first time she honestly sees the damage that she’s done to more than just herself.  Will she be able to fix anything?

I recommend this book to anyone who likes a story to sink their teeth in.  You will definitely be yelling at your kindle before the read is over. It isn’t all hearts and flowers but lets face it unless you live in a bubble it’s called life.  This is more like a slow dance with the devil himself and how Talia figures out how to do battle with him.
